I currently have three guinea pigs; Peachy, Honey, and Annabelle and as is probably obvious from their names all are girls. They were all born in spring 2011 so are just a few months old at the moment. Peachy is cream and orange and is the oldest and most bossy and fiesty guinea.
Honey and Annabelle are tortoiseshell-coloured and Honey has an adorable crest on her head. All three seem to be currently be living together in peaceful harmony at the moment (other than the odd girly squabble). These three guineas are the focus of my blog.
I have had seven other guinea pigs in the past. Up until recently, a beautiful tufty-haired tortoisehell called Chicory, who sadly only had a short life and was with us for just two short weeks.
In the past I had two males; Cocoa and Nibby, and the sweet pale grey silky-haired Misty who gave birth to three girl babies – all brown smoothed-haired rex-mixes Truffle, Harlequin, and Scotch.
I’m not an expert on guinea pigs by any means but I have learned quite a bit about guinea pigs over the years and have collated some practical advice in my guinea pig care section to help any new guinea pig owners or anyone thinking about getting guinea pigs as pets. As I’m no expert and am not a breeder or vet feel free to let me know if anything is incorrect or if you have additional advice to offer.
